Created land art piece “Light,Shadow,Color” at Pedvale Open Air Museum, Sabile, Latvia. Work is 25’ long by 4’ deep, made of stone.

Awards

Fall Semester 2011 – Recipient of a Small Grant: intended to support research, scholarly and creative activities. Proposal entitled “Bronze and Aluminum Casting”.

July 18th – August 2nd 2011– Was accepted in the Iron Artist Residency at Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota. The residency was symposium based. The piece I made stayed in the park for the following year.

Spring Semester 2011- Recipient of a Small Grant: intended to support research, scholarly and creative activities. Proposal was for a performance project I was working on. Living in a gallery space uninterrupted for a week. The project was unsuccessful as it was interrupted by the police.

Fall and Spring Semesters, 2010 - 2011– Re-elected President of Visual Arts Board at Buffalo State College, a student-run campus organization. Held such duties as organizing events/trips, contacting artists to give lectures, curating exhibitions, and maintaining accountability for all finances.

April 22nd 2010 – Awarded the Hyatt’s Award for Excellence in Sculpture 2010 by the Fine Arts department at Buffalo State College.

Related Activities

Participated in the National Conference of Cast Iron Art at SLOSS Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. This year I led a team of students in fabricating a 10” cupola to be run at the conference’s annual Student Run Cupola Competition.

Assistant to Kenneth Patrick Payne on his piece Gash at Franconia Sculpture Park in Franconia, Minnesota. The piece is 25’ long and 8’ deep in the center. The work is an installation cast in iron. Throughout my years of being heavily involved with the Visual Arts Board I have been curating exhibitions, calling for work for shows, and putting exhibitions together.

May 2010 – Assisted sculptor Ben Perrone by fabricating bags for his installation War Ongoing Project. Exhibited at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo, New York. The work was a paid internship.

Spring Semester 2010 – Enrolled in project course entitled “Furnace Design”. In this course I built a cupola with a 100/150lb capability intended for pouring iron.

December, 2009 - Invited Guest lecturer: discussing concepts and techniques related to recent figurative sculpture for Professor Joe Miller’s Intermediate Drawing course. Buffalo State College, Buffalo, NY.

November 4th – December 10th 2009 - Assisted the Dufala Brothers in setting up their show One on One on One in Czurles Nelson Gallery, Upton Hall, Buffalo State College, Buffalo, New York. The exhibition was a first group showing of the Brother’s work.

Summer, 2009. – Participated in an internship at Griffis Sculpture Park in East Otto, New York. Assisted Latvian artist Laura Feldberga, in creating her sculpture entitled “Flood”. The work is site specific and permanent. It was built with local rock.

I frequently attend and run annual iron, bronze, and aluminum pours at Buffalo State College campus, as well as regional iron pours and related events.  I have recently traveled to such colleges as Alfred University, NY and Ramapo College, NJ, for these events.
